PRESIDENT COMMISSIONS POLICE OFFICERS
The President of the Rep. of Ghana H.E. John Evans Atta Mills has stated that his government is taking pragmatic and concrete steps to provide more acceptable accommodation for the police after acknowledging that the situation as it is currently is not the best.
He said this during the review of the 42nd Cadet Officers’ graduation of the Ghana Police College in Accra on Friday 11th December 2009.
President Atta Mills also said that, to ensure optimum performance in policing in the country, there was the need for personnel to constantly build their capacity.
He used the occasion to direct the Police High Command to establish units in the service to contain any anticipated crimes associated with oil and gas exploration.
President Mills said Ghana’s oil find was going to present the police with new challenges, which would require measures that would enable personnel to be continuously ahead of criminals.
The President finally said, government was happy with the way the police was combating crime, especially armed robbery and stressed that, there must be no room for criminals to operate with impunity.
The officers received Presidential Commissioning as Assistant Superintendents of Police.
