Ghana Police Service

 Press Release

The Police Administration wishes to caution travellers who use the Kotoka International Airport to be wary of the taxis they charter outside the main taxi terminal at the Airport especially on their arrival.

The Police has observed that some unscrupulous taxi drivers rob their passengers when taking them to their destinations.  Sometimes these drivers plan and invade these homes at a later date.

The police is therefore urging relatives, friends and family members to use known taxi drivers or registered taxis at the Airport to convey their relations who arrive at the Airport to their various destinations.

Furthermore, the police wishes to advise travellers to transact businesses involving currencies with the Forex Bureau at the Airport or any other secured place, than dealing with road side money dealers which tend to attract criminals.

Passengers are also advised to take note of the make, colour and number of the car they board to their designated areas.

The Police are therefore calling on members of the public to report any suspicious movement in and around the Airport to the Police by calling the following telephone numbers:

021 – 773695
021 – 773906
191 – on Tigo, Kasapa and Vodafone.

Meanwhile, the Police is assuring members of the public that security arrangements have been put up at the Airport to check criminals who operate under the guise of being taxi drivers and will therefore need the support and co-operation of the public in this regard.
