Mobile Force Unit

HISTORY
The Reserve Training School, now known as Mobile Force Headquarters, Accra is believed to have been formed up in the year 1975. However, its standing-by at the Information Room for emergency duties and the sentry guard duties at the Police Headquarters and at the office of the President. During that era, the personnel were operational throughout the country. All the above mentioned roles started to decline between 1995 and 2000, due to the formation of other units like RDF, Panthers, Striking Force and Highway Patrol.

FUNCTIONS AND INITIATIVES
The Mobile Force Unit has one hundred and ninety-one (191) personnel. The current duties being performed by the personnel of the unit have been mainly guard duties at the residences of Governor and Deputy Goernors of Bank of Ghana, GCB Managing Director and the Deputy Managing Director, Schedule Officers of the Police Service, Russian and Japan Embassies, Nigerian High Commission, Golden Tulip and Fiesta royale Hotels, MTN Offices, State House, Accra International Conferrence Centre and Trasaco Co. Ltd. among others. The Unit also provides body guards to various categories of Judges within the Judicial Service and performs Specie duties for UT-Bank, Golden Panthers and SCONES Security Services respectively.

In collaboration with other operational Units, periodically personnel of the Mobile Force Unit embark on swoops and other operational activities at crime prone areas in Accra, Bawku and other parts of the country.
