The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Paul Quaye has underscored the need for all the stakeholders in the road transport industry to work together at the policy formation level to solve the peremial road accident problem facing that sector.
While lauding the National Road Safety Commission for bringing Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service in some of their operations, the IGP said that there is more to be done at the policy or management level between the Police and the N.R.S.C for the improvement in the sector.
Mr. Paul Quaye said this when the Executive Secretary of the N.R.S.C, Mr. Noble Appiah Nketiah paid a courtesy call on the IGP at the Police Headquarters.
Expressing his appreciation for the visit, the IGP further said that he hoped the visit would occasion an improved relationship between the two, as their various responsibilities, in parts, complement each other.
On his part, Mr. Noble Nketia congratulated the IGP on his appointment and assured him of the commitment of his outfit to working in partnership with the Police.
He agreed that the need to collaborate at the management level between the two institutions cannot be over emphasized. He presented some strategic policy document of the N.R.S.C to the IGP for his perusal.
Present at the meeting were members of the Headquarters Management and Advisory Board: COP/Mr. Mohammed Alhassan, COP/Mrs. Joana Osei – Poku, DCOP/Mr. Ofosu Mensah Gyeabour, DCOP/Mr. George Anko-Bil.
Other members of the N.R.S.C who accompanied the Executive Director were Mr. Obiri Yeboah, in charge planning and Mr. David Osafo Adonteng, the Director of Research, monitoring and evaluation.
